The team at Winemaking Tasmania works very hard to support our clients to both gain success with their wines and to enjoy working in the wine industry. We stage a number of events and networking opportunities through the year.
Annual Benchmarking Workshop
The annual client benchmarking workshop is held in October. The aim is two-fold to provide an educational, learning and networking opportunity for our clients as well as a means to give something back to our clients and thank them for selecting us as their winemaking team. We bring Australia’s Senior Master of Wine, Nick Bulleid to Tasmania for the event and this has proven to be highly successful and valuable, especially given Nick’s expertise as both a judge and wine educator.
Open Vineyards Weekend
This is held annually in March in southern Tasmania and Winemaking Tasmania offered its clients the opportunity to have the winery for the weekend to showcase their wines to the public. Hundreds took the opportunity to visit the winery and taste the wines on offer. Participants involved in the event were Pages Creek Vineyard, Bishop’s Vineyard, Milton, Kelvedon Estate, Ese Vineyard, Bream Creek Vineyard, Cape Bernier Vineyard and Derwent Estate.
2008 Southern Vineyards Open Weekend
Winemaking Tasmania opens its doors to the public once a year as part of the Southern Vineyards Open Weekend. Clients who have wines made at Winemaking Tasmania set up stalls in the winery to sell their wines. Those on sale this year were Bream Creek, Ese Vineyard, Cape Bernier, Little Feat, Clarence House Estate, Summerleas Wines and Bishop’s Vineyard.
It was the third consecutive year that the winery has hosted this event and it was the most successful so far. More than 500 people took the opportunity to come out and have a taste and buy wines from the various vineyard producers and Nonna Rosa (mother of Elvio Brianese, of Ese Vineyards, with support from father Vic) cooked her famous gnocchi all weekend to complement the wines.
Senior winemaker Julian Alcorso and the winemaking team, provided winery tours throughout the weekend to groups and the public feedback indicated their appreciation of having the opportunity to view a ‘working winery’. All in all, a great weekend.
