Winemaking Tasmania

Reverse Osmosis
As a specialist contract winemaker, maximising the quality of wine we make or handle for our clients is the primary objective of the team at Winemaking Tasmania. Investing in the best people, equipment and the latest technology is our strategy for delivering on this. At the heart of the latest technology is a process based on Reverse Osmosis and the results of processes using this concept are creating great excitement in the industry.

How to maximise the quality of your wine?

Reverse Osmosis separation of wine components is based on the ability of smaller molecules to pass through a semi-permeable membrane more readily than larger molecules. Australian company Wine Network has developed a patented technology comprising a family of reverse osmosis membrane-based processes for adjusting wine composition and enhancing quality.

These comprise a powerful group of winemaking tools which can:

  • Reduce excess alcohol
  • Reduce volatile acidity
  • Remove brettanomyces taint compounds (4-EP and 4-EG)
  • Remove smoke taint compounds
  • Remove water from grape musts
  • Increase wine concentration

Winemaking Tasmania is the only Tasmanian company with a licence agreement to offer these services in Tasmania. We have the equipment and the expertise to provide this on site at our state-of-the-art winery at Cambridge in southern Tasmania, or to service other wineries statewide through our mobile contracting service. Confidentiality is guaranteed.
